Okay our lives arent really that exciting, but I haven’t posted in a while. When things are going well I tend to not need an outlet to express my feelings. I know many of you like to be kept in the loop so here is my Lukey update.
Luke is doing really well. Over the last month or so his blood counts are starting to come up (still a little low but on the rise), he has a fuzzy head as his hair is starting to grow (he’s even had to shave his mustache a few times), and he is feeling generally well. He has some pain in his tailbone area due to his marrow expanding to recover produce new cells. This causes some pressure and discomfort.
At our last visit the doctor said that the test they run to check if his cells are his own or donor cells came back at 99%!!!! They consider anything over 95% to be 100% donor!! This is awesome news as this means his cells are actually all created by the stem cells donated by Ben and none are created by Luke’s original stem cells.
We love getting news like this!
Around Thanksgiving we went to Calgary to visit Ben and Kaila and also got to see Madeline and their aunt, uncle, and cousins. This was a much needed trip and really helped lift our spirits. You can’t imagine how boring it gets being unemployed and stuck at home. It was nice to escape these four walls and be with family for a bit.
We are so happy to have such loving and caring family and friends. We could not do this without all of your love and support. Enjoy some pics of our happy life.
